A Few Healthy Eating Tips For The Holiday Period

A few healthy eating tips for the holiday period.
As we all know food is an important part of many holidays, celebrations, family and cultural traditions. In fact there may be occasions where everything centers around food. Because of this there are many people who will gain either a little or a lot of weight over the holiday season. So below are a few eating healthy holiday tips which should hopefully help to prevent those extra few inches appearing on your waistline.
1. Eat a light snack before you go to any parties because if you go feeling hungry then you are more likely to over eat. Plus you are less likely to resist the temptation being put before you of those higher fat and higher calorie foods. So consider eating either a piece of fruit, a small yogurt or some string cheese before leaving for that party.

2. Make a plan. It is important to think about where you will be and what types of foods will be available. It is much easier for you to deal with a difficult social eating situation if you have already planned for it.
3. Avoid Recreational Eating. Although some foods are more calorie dense than others no food will make you gain weight unless you eat too much of it. So at parties and holiday dinners we tend to eat or keep eating beyond or own body's physical hunger just simply because the food is there. So to avoid recreational eating consciously make one plate of the foods provided as all you want. Then eat it slowly and savor every bite. Once you have finished eating then pop a stick of gum or mint in your mouth and get a tall glass of water and then sip this throughout the night. Another way to avoid recreational eating is to keep yourself well away from the buffet table or food trays.
4. Reduce the amount of at you have in your recipes. You will find there are plenty of low fat and low calorie substitutes around which taste really good. Also there are plenty of recipe books and magazines (also look on the internet) that have low calorie recipes in them.
5. Watch what you’re eating. When out at a party or at a dinner party then treat yourself to a nice drink, dessert, chocolate or sweets without guilt but watch the size of the portions and each a much smaller portion than you would normally. Moderation is always the key where eating healthy during the holiday period is concerned.
Hopefully by following some of the eating healthy holiday tips which have been provided above should help you in not gaining those extra inches on your waistline when the next holiday comes around. Please visit [http://solutionhealth.org] for extra tips in health solution.
